WORKSHOP ON “CYBER SECURITY IN EVERYDAY LIFE” ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING HELD ON 08TH MARCH 2019
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a workshop on Cyber Security in Everyday Life,on 8th March 2019 at 10:00am. The resource person for this program was Mr.T T Harish, Honorary Chair Member, National Cyber Defence Research Centre, Chennai. The program started with the prayer song. The welcome address was given by Mr.K Sivakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The Felicitation address was given by Dr.G Ramesh, Principal of JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. The introduction about the Chief Guest was given by Rohith R, 3rd year Computer Science and Engineering. The chief guest first gave an introduction about how this concept was used during ancient times which surprised everyone to know how it was implemented in Ramayana. He then explained about the 3 major concepts of cyber security by illustrating a power point presentation.
He went through each concept with examples and related stories, how security was affected in various fields. How to be secure in social media and cyber world were also included. He said about the applications to detect the hidden cameras all around us. He insisted about how computers are being affected by malwares and how its functioning changes after affected by such malwares. Then he talked about encrypting data while exchanging from device to device. He talked about how women folks should be aware of increasing cyber crimes and how it should be prevented. He talked about the job opportunities related to cyber security.
The atmosphere of the workshop was quite free. We learned a lot from the workshop and were satisfied with the answers from the speaker.
