Department Student Association Inauguration – Academic Year 2026–2027

The Department Student Association Inauguration for the academic year 2026–2027 was successfully organized on Friday, 24 July 2026, at 9:30 AM in the Seminar Hall of JCT College of Engineering and Technology (JCTCET). The event marked the official commencement of the department's academic, technical, and student engagement activities for the new academic year, fostering leadership, innovation, and collaborative learning among students.

The inaugural function was graced by Dr. K. Kadirvelu, Scientist 'G' & Associate Director, Defence Bioengineering & Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, who also serves as the DRDO Coordinator – Coimbatore, as the Chief Guest. His presence added great significance to the event, inspiring students with his vast experience in defense research, technological innovation, and national development.

The primary objective of the Student Association is to encourage active student leadership, enhance participation in academic and technical activities, promote innovation and research culture, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and create opportunities for students to develop professional and leadership skills. The association will serve as a platform for organizing seminars, workshops, technical competitions, hackathons, and various co-curricular and extracurricular activities throughout the academic year.

A key highlight of the event was its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth. The association aims to contribute to these global goals by empowering students with quality learning opportunities, skill development, innovation, and career readiness.

During his keynote address, Dr. K. Kadirvelu emphasized the importance of research, innovation, and emerging technologies in building a self-reliant nation. He encouraged students to cultivate scientific thinking, engage in interdisciplinary research, and explore career opportunities in premier organizations such as DRDO. He also highlighted the crucial role of young engineers in national development and motivated students to pursue excellence through continuous learning and innovation.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by the department faculty, followed by the formal inauguration of the Department Student Association. The event concluded with an inspiring interaction between the Chief Guest and students, leaving them motivated to actively participate in the association's initiatives and contribute to the academic and technological growth of the institution.
