JCT Students Develop an AI-Powered Smart Campus ERP with 150 AI Agents
Project Overview
Second-year students Sanjay Krishnan and Bharath Raj from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at JCT College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, have developed an innovative project titled “JCT Agentic AI Smart Campus ERP”.
The project leverages the rapidly emerging field of Agentic Artificial Intelligence to create an intelligent campus management platform capable of autonomously handling a wide range of administrative and academic operations.
Powered by Modern AI Technologies
The Smart Campus ERP is built using a combination of modern artificial intelligence technologies designed to enable intelligent decision-making, automation and personalized services.
Core Technologies
- Multi-Agent AI for coordinating autonomous AI agents
- Large Language Models (LLMs) for intelligent interaction
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for contextual information retrieval
- Generative AI for intelligent content and assistance
Initial Implementation
As part of the initial phase, the students successfully designed and implemented 10 autonomous AI agents. These agents are intended to perform specific campus-related tasks with minimal human intervention, demonstrating the potential of agentic AI in educational administration.
The system is designed to automate administrative processes while providing intelligent assistance to students, faculty members and institutional administrators.
Smart Campus Operations
The initial system addresses important campus administration activities, including:
- Admissions
- Attendance tracking
- Fee management
- Academic assistance
- Personalized student support
Personalized Learning Engine
One of the notable features of the project is the Personalized Learning Engine, which is designed to provide learning resources based on individual student requirements.
The system can generate customized study notes and practice quizzes according to a student's learning pace, providing a more personalized and adaptive learning experience.
This feature demonstrates how AI can be used not only for administrative automation but also to support academic learning and student development.
Vision for 150 AI Agents
Following the successful implementation of the initial 10 AI agents, the college management has expressed its support for expanding the project into a complete intelligent campus platform powered by 150 autonomous AI agents.
The proposed next phase aims to extend intelligent automation across multiple areas of campus operations, creating a unified ecosystem for students, faculty and administrators.
Planned Smart Campus Domains
- Academic Management
- Library Management
- Hostel Management
- Transportation Management
- Placement Management
- Financial Management
Institutional Support
The innovative initiative received strong encouragement from the management and academic leadership of JCT Educational Institutions.
Vice-Chairman Gouthaman Rajamanickam, Secretary R. Duraisankanar, Principal Dr. S. Manoharan, and Department Head Sakthi Vinayagam expressed their support for the continued development of the JCT Agentic AI Smart Campus ERP.
Innovation and Future Potential
The project demonstrates how emerging AI technologies can be applied to transform conventional campus administration into a more intelligent, automated and personalized ecosystem.
By combining autonomous AI agents with LLMs, RAG and Generative AI, the initiative provides a foundation for developing an integrated smart campus platform capable of supporting diverse institutional operations.
Conclusion
The JCT Agentic AI Smart Campus ERP marks an innovative step toward applying agentic AI to higher education. The successful implementation of the initial 10 AI agents and the proposed expansion to 150 agents reflects the potential of the project to create an intelligent, integrated and technology-driven campus ecosystem.
