The Department of Civil Engineering, JCT College of Engineering and Technology, organized a webinar for Civil Engineering students on 5 March 2026 at the JCT Seminar Hall through Google Meet.
The webinar focused on introducing students to modern digital tools used in quantity surveying, construction estimation, material calculation and project budgeting, with particular emphasis on the practical application of PlanSwift software.
Objective of the Webinar
The primary objective of the webinar was to provide students with practical knowledge about the use of modern software tools in quantity surveying and construction estimation.
The session was designed to help students understand how digital technologies are transforming traditional quantity take-off methods and enabling construction professionals to perform calculations with greater accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
Welcome Address
The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Prof. D. Arul Ganapathy, who welcomed the resource person, faculty members and students to the webinar.
In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of learning modern software tools in Civil Engineering and encouraged students to gain practical exposure to industry-relevant technologies that can strengthen their professional capabilities.

Mr. Kaka Muhammed Suhaib delivered an informative session on “Quantity Surveying using PlanSwift Software.” He introduced students to the role of quantity surveying in planning and managing construction projects.
